Health Sector in the Palestinian NGOs network strongly condemns attacks on doctors in various incidents during their job duty in Gaza.
During a meeting held today, members of PNGO Health Sector emphasized the full solidarity with doctors and medical personnel in facing these unfortunate attacks, and expressed the appreciation for the great role they play in providing services to our people in the Gaza Strip despite the difficult situations they and the health sector are experiencing as a result of the Israeli blockade and the political division implications. They called to bring offenders to justice, and to provide redress for victim doctors and establish guarantees to prevent the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents.
Also, PNGO Health Sector discussed the implications of the decision of the Palestinian Ministry of Health to stop medical referrals to Israeli hospitals. They stressed on the need to expedite in providing a suitable alternative for patients, especially in the Gaza Strip, and continuing to provide treatment for previous cases. This is based on the importance of protecting the right to health and delivering comprehensive health care services to our people.
PNGO Health Sector also called to enhance the medical services in the national health institutions and provide the needed support.
Furthermore, members of health sector referred to the World Health Day, pointing to the great efforts exerted by medical teams and institutions to provide emergency, therapeutic, recovery and rehabilitative services for the wounded of the Great March of Return despite the continuous Israeli attacks on medical personnel and ambulances, as three medics were killed and hundreds injured.
PNGO health sector called on the international community to hold the occupation leaders accountable for its crimes against Palestinians and medical personnel, also they called to provide the protection and support to the medical personnel so that ensure continuity in providing their services to Palestinian citizens.
